One of the most popular wedding themes of all time is the beach wedding. This is especially true here in southern California, where a lot of the wedding ceremony and receptions happen at or near the beach. Who doesn’t want to get married in front of the ocean? It’s romantic, fun, and gives everyone that feeling of “vacation.” That is the right frame of mind for a wedding celebration. Besides decoration and location, what else can tie your beachy wedding theme all together? Using the best beach wedding songs, of course! There are two main areas where you can use beach style wedding music, so let’s take a look at those and what music will fit for each.
There are many areas of your wedding ceremony where you can use beach style music. You will want to stay away from party songs, like I Get Around by the Beach Boys, but there’s no reason why you can’t use Warmth of the Sun, Don’t Worry Baby, and Surfer Girl. These are mellow enough to use as a part of your preceremony music for guests arrival. Some people are happy using Wouldn’t It Be Nice as one of either their beach wedding processional songs or recessional. So, Beach Boys work, but they are the obvious way to go.
A little less obvious might be Hawaiian artists such as Isreal Kamakawiwo`ole and The Green. Some other artists include Hapa, Punahele, and Makaha Sons, all of which produce more relaxed ceremony style music. Even Elvis Presley performed his share of Hawaiian music, all of which ring true as beach wedding songs.
Here is an area where you can have a lot of fun. You want to go more upbeat with your beach music here, so don’t be afraid to play some of those fun songs like I Get Around and Fun, Fun, Fun. Besides the obvious Beach Boys, you can add surf tunes from Jan and Dean, The Ventures, and the Chantays.
Besides surf rock, there are a lot of artists that do beach songs. Even Nat King Cole has a few summer songs. Jimmy Buffet is another fun artist that works. There are also a few country songs out there that speak of the beach and summertime. Steel drums and Caribbean music will give you the same atmosphere. The same goes with most reggae music, mon! As you can see, there are a ton of genres and artists that can add that beach vibe to your reception.
