One of the highlights of any wedding reception is when the wedding party and the bride and groom enter the room for the very first time. Loud and fast music is played and the MC announces everyone, especially the newlyweds, to a raucous crowd. It’s basically your kick-off to your celebration! I’ve come up with so many different wedding entrance ideas over the years and what I have learned is that it is all based on personal preference. I’ve had couples enter to Top 40 dance songs, classic rock, oldies and Motown, even classic Disney songs like So This Is Love from Cinderella. But music is only one component of the grand entrance. There are a few things you can do to enhance and entertain the wedding guests while still using the song you’ve always dreamed of coming in to.
Let’s start with your wedding party. These are the bridesmaids, groomsmen, best man and maid of honor, and so on. You can always add the parents if there are still married–and still get along–and the flower girls and ring bearers if they are old enough. Don’t hesitate to put the little kids with their parents if they are in the wedding party. There are more components to setting it all up and these ideas and suggestions are in the Wedding Songs Timeline Planner.
Playing a song for each wedding party couple is always a good idea. You can’t really play the groomsman’s theme song, though, because he’s escorting the bridesmaid in! If you only have a few attendants, there is no reason why you can’t have them come in as individuals. Once you bring in the wedding party the guests will probably be wondering…”Who the heck are these people?” That’s why it’s a good idea to share some background on each attendant. “Joe Smith is Tim’s (the groom) best friend from college, and Joannie Jones is Kim’s (bride) work BFF!” If y ou have a great MC they can even “roast” the wedding party, making fun of their hobbies and job. Now that we’ve talked a bit about the wedding party, how do you make your entrance awesome? Even if you only play a high energy entrance song, you will still have a great entrance. All of your guests will go crazy for you as you enter. If you want to spice it up a little, come up with an entrance routine. This might be one of those over the top wedding reception entrance ideas, but if you can pull it off, it can be fun. In regards to the roast idea, you can also have your MC or DJ introduce you then go into a love story about how you met and how you ended up where you are today–getting married! Be sure to make a little fun of yourselves, such as your idiosyncrasies and so on.
You can also change for your entrance as seen here:
Of course, the bride might not be able to change, simply because you only get to wear this dress once and you should wear it as much as possible on your wedding day!
